Functionalized cellulose nanocrystals as a novel adsorption material for removal of boron from water

This study aims to prepare a novel adsorbent containing cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) isolated from date pits (DP) and ionic liquid (IL). The prepared composite of CNC IL was then loaded onto the DP [email protected] adsorbent. boron remediation capability investigated using compared that DP. results showed superior performance as maximum adsorption capacity 97 mg/g 69 obtained with DP, respectively. can be attributed high surface area 4.254 m2/g for 2.126 effect pH, temperature, initial concentration on also studied. It noticed % removal water increased pH reached its around 97% at 6. On other hand, there no temperature (25 °C, 35 45 °C) noted both adsorbents. indicated by favors Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm model.
